Premier of Australian Feature Film Muirhouse

Muirhouse is a documental style parapsychology feature film written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Tanzeal Rahim and stars Sydney actor Iain PF McDonald.

The film documents and follows Phillip Muirhouse’s (Iain McDonald) real time promotional tour of his new book the ‘Dead Country’.

As part of the promotion of his new book, Muirhouse agrees to spend one single night alone at arguably Australia’s most haunted property – The Monte Cristo in Junee, NSW, located 4.5 hours south of Sydney.

Armed with hand-held cameras, audio equipment and high tech motion activated devices, Muirhouse sets out to document and explore the alleged reports of spiritual phenomenas at this isolate 19th century Victorian era property.

Riddled with a dark history of foul play and murders dating back to the original owners the Crawley family in 1885, the property is plagued with reports of paranormal activity and enigma apparitional experiences.

Shot on located in the original Monte Cristo property, Muirhouse’s footage is recorded and documented on a hand-held camera, reminiscent of The Blair Witch Project.

The film transcends Muirhouse into the unknown and questions his own believes  whilst emphasises the use of reason to scrutinize previously accepted explanations of the emotional humanitarian understanding.

Muirhouse explores the arguments that methodological flaws can explain any apparent paradox anomalies, however absorbed by his research and real life experiences Muirhouse is drawn deeper into dark history that haunts the Monte Cristo.

The events that follow are real-time footage….

This Independent Australian feature film will screen in the Cannes film market during the upcoming Cannes Film Festival 2012.
